Homeschool Max (by Reading Eggs) Review: Fun Homeschool Curriculum for Busy Families
Are you looking for an easy, fun, and effective way to help your children learn and practice essential reading, spelling, and math skills at home? If so, Homeschool Max by Reading Eggs, today’s blog post sponsor, may be just what you’re looking for.
If you’ve followed Equipping Godly Women for a while, you might have heard me mention that while I’m not a homeschool mom, I am a “mean mom” who makes her kids do summer homework.
My kids like to complain loudly to anyone who will listen, but I don’t care. As their mom, and a former teacher, I know how important it is for kids to keep their brains active all year long. Otherwise, they lose so much of what they learned during the school year.
Plus, let’s be honest, I work full-time from home with four children constantly running in and out. I need fun and engaging activities to keep my kids occupied during the day so I can get a little peace and quiet to get my work done and so they have something to do other than watch TV, play video games, or make messes all day long.
That’s where Reading Eggs comes in. Itโs a super fun and engaging program that helps kids build essential reading skills without it feeling like work. (If youโve never heard of Reading Eggs before, you can check out my full Reading Eggs review here.)
But today, I want to talk about something a little different: Reading Eggs’ Homeschool Max.
What is Reading Eggs’ Homeschool Max?
Reading Eggs’ Homeschool Max is an all-in-one online learning platform that turns the award-winning Reading Eggs and Mathseeds programs into a complete homeschool solution.
It combines engaging, self-paced lessons with powerful teacher tools like assignment creation, progress tracking, printable resources, and curriculum guides to support childrenโs reading, language arts, and math development from ages 2โ13.
In this post, Iโll walk you through what Homeschool Max is and how it works, so you can decide if itโs the right fit for your family.
Or watch my Homeschool Max review video below for a detailed walk-through of everything Homeschool Max has to offer!
How Does Homeschool Max Work?
One of the best things about Reading Eggs Homeschool Max is how flexible it is. Youโre not locked into a rigid, one-size-fits-all curriculum. Instead, you get to decide exactly how you want to use the program based on your childโs needs and your familyโs routine.
Option 1: Follow the Pre-Made Curriculum
If you want something thatโs already mapped out for you, Homeschool Max offers free homeschool curriculum guides for grades Kโ5, plus bonus guides for social studies and science. These guides give you complete schedules that cover all the essentials, including:
- Reading
- Language arts
- Spelling
- Grammar
- Writing
- Math (through Mathseeds)
This option is perfect if youโre a full-time homeschool mom who wants a simple, ready-to-go curriculum without spending hours lesson planning.
Option 2: Pick and Choose What Your Child Needs
If youโd rather customize your childโs learning, Homeschool Max makes that easy too.
Through the Homeschool Max dashboard, you can:
- Assign specific reading or math lessons
- Choose particular spelling lists or grammar activities
- Assign fluency practice where your child records themselves reading aloud
- Select books from the leveled library to match your childโs reading level
- Focus on exactly the standards or skills your child needs extra help with
This is a great option for families who arenโt full-time homeschoolers but still want to supplement learning at home.
Whether you homeschool full-time, you want an easy and fun way to help your children catch up on specific areas they may be falling behind in, or you’re simply looking for fun and educational supplemental materials, Homeschool Max has you covered.

My Reading Eggs Homeschool Max Review
Overall, I think Homeschool Max is a great option for busy parents who want an all-in-one reading and math program that makes learning fun for kids while keeping things simple for busy parents.
Amount of Material: What I loved most about Homeschool Max is how much helpful material it includes. You donโt realize how robust it is until you start clicking around. Itโs not just random gamesโitโs a full, structured curriculum aligned to state standards.
Flexible Scheduling: I also appreciated the flexibility. You can follow the complete curriculum or pick and choose specific skills your child needs help with. Whether your kids are homeschooled or in traditional school, you can use it to fill in gaps or get extra practice in the exact areas they need.
Fun and Engaging: The program is also a lot of fun. My kids enjoyed it and found it easy to use. Itโs not just worksheetsโthere are games, rewards, and a structure that keeps them engaged.
Reporting: One of my favorite parts was the reporting. It gives you a clear picture of what your child is working on, where they need help, and what theyโve mastered. Thatโs so helpful as a parent trying to stay on top of everything.
Learning Curve: That said, there is a bit of a learning curve. I had to spend quite a bit of time figuring out what different features were and how to find things. Some of the terminology wasnโt very intuitive for new users, and you really have to hunt to find everything that’s available or how to use it.
Overall, itโs a fantastic program. Just be prepared to take a little time upfront to get familiar with the dashboard and features. Once you do, itโs absolutely worth it.
Pros of Homeschool Max
- Offers a comprehensive, structured curriculum aligned to state standards
- Includes curriculum guides so you know exactly what to teach and in what order
- Allows for flexibilityโuse it as a full program or target specific skills
- Great for homeschoolers and families who want to supplement school learning

- Includes a wide variety of materials (worksheets, games, books, lesson slides, etc.)
- Designed to support different teaching styles and needs
- Offers instructional depthโnot just simple games, but actual skill-building content
Cons of Reading Eggs Homeschool Max
- Has a learning curve when getting started
- Dashboard navigation can be confusing at first
- Some features are hard to find or not clearly labeled (like curriculum guides or lesson categories)
- Terminology (e.g., “Big Books,” “Summer Reading Catch-Up,” “Targets”) isnโt always intuitive
- Program names and age ranges are not listed on the parent dashboard, which can cause confusion when assigning lessons
- Busy parents may feel frustrated having to click around to learn where everything is and what it means
My Daughter’s Reading Eggs Homeschool Max Review
Of course, that’s just my Homeschool Max review…
When I asked my 9-year-old daughter what she thought, she said she loved it! She said it was easy and fun, and she asked to borrow my computer to do more lessons as soon as I was done using it.
The only thing she didnโt love was that once I assigned her a lesson, she couldnโt return to the dashboard or explore other activities until that lesson was completed. Everything else was locked, other than the first assignment.
For some kids, that level of structure is actually a good thing because it keeps them focused. But for kids who prefer more freedom to explore, that might feel a little limiting.
Final Thoughts: Is Reading Eggs Homeschool Max Worth It?
If youโre wondering whether Reading Eggs Homeschool Max is worth it, my honest answer is yes, absolutely!
With Homeschool Max, you get access to:
- All five Reading Eggs programs (Reading Eggs Junior, Reading Eggs, Fast Phonics, Reading Eggspress, and Mathseeds).
- A teacher dashboard to assign lessons, create book collections, and track progress.
- Printable worksheets for phonics, grammar, spelling, handwriting, math, and more.
- 4,000+ leveled books with comprehension quizzes and read-aloud options.
- Fluency practice where kids record themselves reading aloud.
- Progress reports to track Lexile growth, standards mastery, and skill development.
- Full curriculum guides for grades Kโ5, social studies and science, and the option to create your own custom plan.
And all of this comes at a very affordable priceโespecially when you consider how much it would cost to buy separate programs, books, and supplemental resources to cover the same material.
Of course, you can still go to the library and grab extra books for fun (we do!). But Homeschool Max saves you from having to buy a ton of curriculum materials just to piece together a basic program.
Could you technically gather free resources from the library or random worksheets from the internet? Sure. But if youโve ever tried that, you know how frustrating it can be.
When youโre pulling from free resources, thereโs usually no clear plan, no structure, and no guarantee that youโre covering the right skills in the right order. You might start strong, but chances are, youโll burn out quickly because itโs just not sustainable. Youโll waste hours searching for materials, and in the end, your child might still miss key concepts or end up with big learning gaps.
Reading Eggs Homeschool Max takes all of that guesswork off your plate.
For families who truly want to homeschoolโand want to make sure theyโre not missing anything importantโthis program does the heavy lifting for you. It helps ensure youโre covering your state standards, and it presents everything in a way thatโs fun and engaging for your kids.
At the same time, itโs flexible enough to let you adjust things to fit your childโs unique preferences, pace, and learning needs.
So if you want a program that saves you time, reduces stress, keeps your kids learning, and makes homeschooling easier, Reading Eggs Homeschool Max is 100% worth checking out.
