10 Egg-Citing Easter Activities to Do This Week

🌺  Written by Brittany Ann

Spring has sprung which means it will soon be Easter! This year, Easter is on Sunday, March 31.

There are so many fun ways to celebrate, from Resurrection Rolls to Easter eggs to Easter baking.

Here are ten “egg-citing” Easter ideas that are great for the whole family — whether that’s your own kids, your grandkids, the kids you babysit, or any kids who may volunteer with.

1. Have Breakfast with the Easter Bunny

Many communities or restaurants host a breakfast with the Easter Bunny where you can have some yummy food and have some one-on-one time (and get the perfect picture!) with the Easter Bunny.

If this option isn’t available to you, pick up some festive plates and cups from the store and create your own special Easter themed breakfast at home. It’s easy to make an Easter bunny pancake simply by adding banana ears and fruit or chocolate chips for the face!

2. Do an Easter Egg Hunt

Fill up some plastic eggs with candy or small items such as stickers or erasers and hide them inside or outside the house for a fun time. Or look for an egg hunt happening close to you so you can save yourself some time and money by having someone else hide the eggs!

There’s a good reason Easter egg hunts are a staple holiday activity each year. Kids love them!

3. Decorate Eggs

Boil some eggs and then use some dye to make them colorful for the holiday. You can create plain colored eggs, multi-colored eggs, or use white crayon to draw more intricate designs. (The egg dye won’t stick to the white crayon.)

Plus, you can use the eggs for deviled eggs at Easter Sunday dinner, if you don’t mind slightly mis-colored eggs!

4. Focus on the Meaning of Easter with Resurrection Eggs

Resurrection eggs are a fantastic and fun way to teach children about the true meaning of Easter. They can take a little time to put together, but the results are worth it.

You can find DIY Resurrection Egg instructions here – or simply buy a pre-made kit online to save yourself the hassle of sourcing all the little pieces.

5. Make Resurrection Rolls

Also known as empty tomb rollsresurrection buns, or simply Easter crescent rolls with marshmallows, Resurrection Rolls are a fun, easy, and delicious way to teach your children about the real meaning of Easter in a way even little ones can understand.

Our family makes these Easter Resurrection Rolls every single year!

6. Roast Peeps for S’mores

Love Easter peeps? Why not make them into s’mores?

Buy a variety of Peeps and roast them over a fire. Then, place them between graham crackers and chocolate for an Easter s’more!

If you don’t have the ability to create an open fire, a microwave can do in a pinch.

7. Bake Easter Cookies

Use your favorite sugar cookie recipe and create bunny, egg, or carrot shapes. They don’t have to look picture perfect.

This is a fun Easter activity for all ages — from toddlers to teenagers to adults!

8. Watch Easter Movies

A few fun Easter favorites include: “Hop” and “Peter Rabbit” for young kids or “Passion of the Christ” or “Risen” for an older audience.

9. Play Easter-Themed Games
