1. John 3:16

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

Probably the most popular Bible verse of all time – and for good reason. The whole Gospel of Christianity is summed up in one sentence. God’s love comes with a promise; if we believe in Him, He will give us eternal life.

2. Psalm 23:6

“Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” – Psalm 23:6

How comforting to know that God’s goodness and love will be with us on Earth and that we can look forward to eternal life with Him!

3. Romans 8:28

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. ” -Romans 8:28

Even when there is trouble everywhere you look, we can trust that God works for good. We have been called by Him and He will protect and care for us.

4. Psalm 23:4

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” -Psalm 23:4

Take comfort that God will never leave you. Just as a shepherd’s staff guides and protects sheep, God directs our paths through the peaks and valleys of life.

5. Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” -Jeremiah 29:11

God’s plans are never to harm us. Rather, He promises hope and a future if we love and obey Him.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” -Matthew 6:33

God promises to give us abundantly more than we could ever hope or ask for, as long as it is within His will. If we seek God first, He will give us the desires of our hearts.

7. Joshua 1:9

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” -Joshua 1:9

This verse is a wonderful reminder for us during uncertain times or major life changes. God invites us to be strong and courageous, with the promise that He will be with us wherever we go.

8. Psalm 23:1-3

“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.” -Psalm 23:1-3

Psalm 23 is also called “The Funeral Prayer” because it offers great comfort and peace during times of mourning. We can rest assured that God brings us great peace, even in times of deep sadness.

9. Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” -Matthew 11:28

Are you weary or burdened? (Who isn’t?) Come to Jesus and He will bring rest to your soul.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” -Philippians 4:6

What helps with anxiety? In every situation, be thankful to God and pray to Him for what you need. Use this verse as a reminder to help you draw near to God.

11. Philippians 4:7

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 4:7

This verse follows directly after Philippians 4:6 for good reason. Why should we not be anxious and instead pray about our concerns with God? So that the peace of God can protect our hearts and minds and comfort us in our times of need.

12. Romans 12:2

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing, and perfect will.” -Romans 12:2

The Christian life isn’t just about your heart. God commands us to renew our minds, or read the Bible and remember what it says. Only then will we be able to know God’s will and stay faithful to Him.

Trusting in God will give us peace – we do not need to rely on our own limited understanding. After all, God can be trusted. He knows and sees all, and He wants the best for us!
